Music Appreciation

This curriculum invites students to analyze the music they enjoy, and to discover connections between their favorite artists and wider cultural and social forces. 

Students may enter this course with little knowledge of modern music, but they will gain an understanding of the musical world around them. This course entices students to then contribute to their community by making music of their own!

Music Production 1

This innovative curriculum breaks down the key concepts of music production. We provide instructional demonstrations for using the digital audio workstation, Soundtrap (Mac, PC, Chromebook), along with engaging assignments, exercises, games, and more so teachers can seamlessly guide students in applying the theory.

Music Production 2

In this level, we show students how to use Ableton Live (Mac and PC), an industry-standard digital audio workstation used by music professionals in studios and on stages around the world. Through the ‘Ableton in the Classroom’ initiative, schools can receive this professional software for free! Building on the key concepts of music production covered in the previous level, this curriculum leads students through substantial projects covering high-level principles like sampling and synthesizers.

CTE Concentrator Course

Grades: 7-12

Cost: $2,000/year (Music Production 1 and 2 Bundle: $3000/year)

Advanced Music Technology & Business

This curriculum presents interviews with GRAMMY-winners and multi-platinum professionals where they discuss how they’ve built sustainable careers implementing the skills students learned during Music Production 1 and 2. Students also hear from leading behind-the-scenes professionals about copyright, contracts, and other industry essentials. All of this culminates in a capstone project where students create and release an album, their industry debut!

Students that complete this curriculum will have the practical knowledge they need to start building a sustainable career and exploit their intellectual property, without getting exploited themselves!
